T.Charlotte Hoggard Inc. ("TCH") is an independent provider of sales tax and forensic consulting services. The President, Charlotte has practiced exclusively in these areas for over 20 years, both in government and in public practice. She received her CGA (Certified General Accountant) designation in 1992 and her CFI (Certified Forensic Investigator) designation in 2000. With amalgamation of the three accounting designations CGA, CA and CMA into the Chartered Professional Accountant's Association Charlotte's accounting designation is now displayed as CPA, CGA.
Charlotte began her professional career in the Canada corporate office of a large international organization and then joined an international accounting firm in their owner managed business (OMB) section in 1988. After progressing to a senior level in the OMB section, Charlotte joined the government in 1990 with the implementation of the GST.
When GST and Income Tax amalgamated in 1993, Charlotte was one of the initial joint GST/Income Tax auditors in the trial Underground Economy audit initiative and after the initial trial year, one of the six authors and instructors for the CRA internal Underground Economy audit course. Prior to leaving the goverment to return to public practice in 1999, Charlotte reviewed leads, screened files and was trained and worked as a CRA GST and Income Tax auditor and investigator in the CRA Enforcement Division.
In 1999, Charlotte returned to public practice with a large international firm and in December 2001 moved to Victoria, BC to lead the Sales Tax Practice in the Victoria office. In January 2007, Charlotte left to lead her own practice focusing exclusively in the area of sales tax and forensic consulting. She provides research, advice, seminars, training, and assistance with appeals and other matters with the taxation authorities.
Charlotte has presented professional seminars for CPA BC, CGA BC, CGA Alberta and other professional organizations and businesses. She has also taught several online forensic courses for a University as well as actively completing on-line university courses. In the fall of 2014, Charlotte as part of a Canadian group presented at three conferences for CGA China.
Effective October 2, 2017 the firm of T. Charlotte Hoggard Inc joined Grant Thornton and will continue to provided professional sales tax services to clients.
